Here are some of my all time favourite books...
1. Wildwood, Colin Meloy
This book is for readers that love realistic fiction, and a lot of fantasy. Wildwood also has a touch of fear, however that's why I like it. The book is about a girl named Prue, her friend, Curtis, and her baby brother, Mac. Mac gets abducted by crows that take him away to Wildwood, where Prue and Curtis have to risk their lives for Mac by fighting talking coyotes, helping bandits, and starting revolutions. This book is enchanted with Prue's feelings and gestures as she runs into an unexpected adventure.
2. Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, Grace Lin
I love this book for it's love, delicacy, and grace. It's a great bedtime story, because it soothes the mind and heart. This book has a lot of Chinese legends and folktales, which I have never heard of. Where the Mountain Meets the Moon is set under the Fruitless Mountain, where a young girl named Minli lives a poor and pressured life. She spends every day in the fields, where there is endless work.
Minli wishes to give her family good fortune by climbing the Never-Ending Mountain, where the Old Man of the Moon lives. He knows the answers to everything. Once you read Where the Mountain Meets the Moon, you will never forget the love that Grace Lin put into this book.
3. Mustaches for Maddie, Chad Morris and Shelly Brown
This true story is filled with faith and compassion, and that you should not be afraid if you have people you love all around you. This book follows a young girl named Maddie, who has a normal life until she discovers that she has brain tumor. Maddie does not want to let her class in on this, because she's afraid of what everyone will think of her. By the way, Maddie has an obsession with mustaches, and she thinks that with a mustache on, anything can be funny. But what will she do with her brain tumor, and how will the surgery go? After all, even brain tumor does not look funny with a mustache on. You will feel faith in Maddie once you read this, and all the obstacles she has to overcome.
